In Birmingham

6/25/09
Today we just relaxed and stayed in Birmingham. We ate dinner at an Indian place called The Blue Mango. Birmingham is known for it Indian food. Our waiter said there is a very large Indian population here. You can tell just looking around. The food was great. Very different and could not tell what spices were used, but good. It is fun to just walk around and see everything that is different. People actually live in boats on the canal here. The boats are very long and skinny.

Tomorrow we are going to a food and drink festival. It should be fun.

  1. I have had buffet indian food down here a couple times because a bunch of the people that I work with.

It seems like most of the food all is served as a pan with it all soaked together and most of the stuff has about the same flavor.

Guess I just want the food separated instead of in one dish.

p.s. I saw our news this morning, we had a record high of 104°f yesterday, record highest ever in June here! Enjoy your nice weather over there.

  2. When do you leave? I know you get back to Lubbock Friday night. I know it will be hard to get back to the real world. Sunny said you should go to York. But it may be too late for that. Looking forward to your return and the 3 hour presentation of travel log and pictures. It's been hot and humid (for us) here. Haven't made it to 100 yet. Waiting 'til you get back!

  3. The indian food was good. It was different than any I had had in Lbk.

We finally decided to take it easy. Traveling to all the places gets rough on the feet. we have seen so much and so fast it is all running together.

Not looking forward to the 100 degree weather. Will just have to go swimming.
